Even the Smallest Touch Can Add
Drama to Your Landscape

Each year as I prepare for the spring season, I'm asked to meet one-on-one with prospective and former clients who want to "dress up the property with something new and different." Typically these individuals are ready for a change, but seem reluctant for fear it could be too costly.

Meeting with them is always rewarding because, in most cases, even simple solutions such as adding a new tree, bush or flower display can add the "drama and show" they are seeking -- the touch of class that sets their property apart.

For example, last year a couple called for help in planning a landscape feature to accent the corner of their lot. Although grass can be beautiful, their property definitely was calling for an accent to add color and charm. We decided on a colorful perennial garden which not only added drama to that portion of their yard, but also brought out the color of a stone walkway nearby.

Another couple, after careful consideration, decided on a more elaborate solution - a row of boxwood to frame their front garden. When we were finished, it took on the look of a formal English garden which fit well with their Tudor home.

While each property is different, and each calls for something unique, it's important to consider that even the smallest touches can make a world of difference. An entire landscape "redo" is seldom necessary to change the look and feel of a particular area or, in many cases, an entire yard.

As you read, this, I hope you think (and maybe dream) of how your yard might benefit from a small (or not so small) change. April is the perfect time to plan that "new look "and for Ideal to plant your new perennials, shrubs and/or trees for this year's growing season. Warm days will be here before we know it.
